Deland, FL

The Best of DeLand, Florida!

I’m not sure why it has taken me so long to write about DeLand. I practically spend every other weekend in this adorable town visiting my boyfriend. If you’re looking for one of the cutest Main Street’s in Florida, add it to the list!

Located just 1 hour outside of Orlando, DeLand is perfect for either a day trip or a weekend getaway!

Woodland Boulevard is the main street of DeLand. Here you can find everything from boutiques and antique stores, to restaurants and a brewery!

I love to browse the cute little shops of DeLand. The picture perfect storefronts make it impossible to pass by without stopping in. Keep in mind that because it is a small town, majority of stores are closed on Sundays.

Some of my favorite stores to wander through are:

Marketplace at Rivertown for antiques and cute displays.

Pretty Little Things for home decor, jewelry, and unique gifts.

Museum of Art – Deland Downtown gift shop for quirky finds.

Sidecar Home Market for beer/wine/cocktails, antiques, and thoughtful gifts inside a repurposed furniture store.

For more local handcrafted goods, check out the Artisan Alley Farmer’s Market occurring each Friday from 6-9. Do not leave the market without a hand crafted ice cream sandwich from Midnight Sun Ice Cream Sandwich Co! They have new flavors each week!

Now that we’re on the topic of food…

Although not well known as a foodie town, DeLand houses a few of the best restaurants I’ve eaten at.

Here are some of my favorite foodie spots around DeLand:

Some of my go to places to catch a buzz are:

Throughout DeLand, you’ll notice quite a few murals representing the history of the town. The DeLand Mural Tour website gives detailed descriptions of each mural and their meanings!

Did you even visit DeLand if you didn’t take a photo with the DeLand Wings by Erica Group? Located in the alley behind Persimmon Hollow, don’t miss this adorable photo op!

Keep your eyes open, because you never know what artistic touches you may find around Deland!

DeLand also has it’s fair share of outdoor activities!

My favorite running trail near DeLand is at Lake Beresford Park. The park offers various routes for bikers, and runners, with pavement and trail running options. There is even a bike path that extends all the way to Blue Springs State Park.

I haven’t hiked too many trails in the area, mainly because my boyfriend refuses to “walk” in the blazing heat and call it a hike in Florida (makes me laugh every time). However, the St. Francis Trail is a beautiful trail displaying Florida elements in all their glory.

In addition to hiking and biking, there are numerous springs within 30-40 minutes of DeLand! Check out my previous blog post here for all you need to know about spring hopping in the Ocala National Forest!

If you’re looking to spend a day or weekend somewhere with small town charm, look no further than the quaint city of DeLand, Florida!
